Today, urban areas are faced with a dynamic process of change that is constantly evolving. This situation requires different disciplines to work together to find aesthetic and rational solutions to the problems that arise in urban planning studies. Architecture and Urban Planning are disciplines that can establish a constructive dialogue with other fields of knowledge due to their action-oriented identities. While urban planning studies generally focus on producing sustainable solutions for the city, the focus of architectural concepts is often the design of buildings or the natural environment. However, both disciplines use science, art and technology to create the urban fabric from a similar spatial perspective.
Department of Architecture and Urban Planning, which is within the scope of Associate Degree Education of the Turkey Higher Education Qualifications Framework, bring together under the same roof associate degree programs (Surveying and Cadastre, Architectural Restoration, Geographical Information Systems, Architectural Drafting etc.) that work together in urban planning and design processes but undertake different missions.
The Surveying and Cadastre Program within the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning of our university is an associate degree program that has been continuing its educational activities for more than a quarter of a century. The education model offered to our students within the scope of the Surveying and Cadastre Program is based on applied education. Our educational content includes the processes of producing the geographical information needed to construct the space and addressing the different dimensions of the living-space relations and transforming this information into maps, which is expressed as the "common language of geography", as well as spatial analysis processes. This multi-dimensional educational content allows us to focus on concretizing the relationship of existence, space and time by evaluating it from a geographical perspective.
Hacettepe University Surveying and Cadastre Program assumes a leadership role to train future professionals who will receive the title of "surveying technician".
